Alright so I know I said I wouldn’t go car shopping again but unfortunately I had no choice. Thankfully though, we knew exactly what we wanted this time and Wes had already somewhat negotiated with the dealership through email as well as made an appointment to come in. Sounds promising and like it will be a very quick process once we get there. NOT!
A few weeks earlier I was traveling back from Tuscaloosa and got stuck in traffic. In the mean time, my car started making a very loud noise. Picture me riding in a go cart on the interstate. Then my oil light came out. Took to shop, nothing wrong just needed oil change. Jump forward 1 week, coming back from Montgomery the next Friday. Sound started again and my service engine light came on this time. Now the sound last longer and is louder. Wes and I decided it was time to get a new car so now here we are with an appointment made.
Arrive at the dealership and I am really excited about getting a new car my first mommy mobile. No, I didn’t get a van! We should have known that things were not going as planned when the salesman started with well things have changed a little since our last email and the price might be a little different. Oh well we have to get something today so here we go. We test drove the car and I loved it even more then in pictures. Thank you to my parents by the way for coming to endure this with us, watching Lynlee, and missing my nephew’s baseball game for us. Wes and I decided this was definitely the SUV we wanted. Let’s go negotiate! I apparently know nothing about car shopping because I thought this would be Wham Bam Thank you sir and drive off in my new ride. Ummmmm think again, 3 ½ hours later I am driving off the lot in my car! Still love it very much and love my husband even more because he was a great negotiator. He had a price and we were not leaving until he got that price. I on the other hand was very nervous because I didn’t want to leave without a car. He even got them to go get us 3 20oz cokes because we were thirsty. Man he is good at this game. With that said, we now have a new family car that drives great.
I say to all the car salesman out there just be HONEST. Don’t tell me it is going to be about 30 minutes and we will have you out of here mam, then it takes 3 ½ hours.
The funny part of the entire day was when we got into the new car to leave; Wes noticed some black marks on the armrest in the front seat. Now you would think since we had to wait so long the detail guy would have done a spectacular job. Wrong, we are pretty sure he just rinsed with hose and added some tire shine to the tires. Wes asked the salesman for a wet rag so we could wash the spot off. This is where we sat in amazement of did this really happen….the guy said “oh yeah I think that is some tire shine from when the detail guy put his rag down, sure, Ill get it real quick”…He puts his thumb on his tongue, gives it a big lick and then wipes off our console. I can’t make this stuff up!! It was like your momma trying to get a little food off your chin lick. Gives spit shine a whole new meaning to me. J
I am very happy and thankful that hopefully it will be a long time before I have to go car shopping again!
I want to see a picture of the car!! I can't believe you opted out of the "Swagger Wagon." Congrats on the new purchase!!
